Religion and the 1960 Presidential Campaign

MOST COMMONLY USED MATERIALS

Here, we've highlighted archival collections and holdings at the JFK Library—starting with the most popular—that support research on the candidates' religious affiliations and their impacts throughout the 1960 Presidential campaign.

Note: Kennedy campaign staff often referred to this topic as "the religious issue," "the religious question," or "the Catholic issue" in titling documents and folders, and this wording has been retained in some finding aids. Researchers are advised to keep these terms in mind when keyword searching the finding aids.
