Intellectual Disability Policy

Here, we've highlighted photographic, sound, and moving image materials at the JFK Library—starting with the most popular—that support research on intellectual disability during the Kennedy presidency. Note: not all materials are listed online; please contact for more information.

Please note that intellectual and developmental disabilities were generally referred to at the time as "mental retardation," a term reflected in many of the finding aids (guides) to our holdings, as they represent the titles assigned by Kennedy administration officials.
